I have a FORD 2005 ZXW Station Wagon --- PLEASE HELP!
The selector does not work when I rotate it. My questions is what do I have to do to repair it? My hunch is that I have to disassembly the entire dashboard to get the cable that is connected to the controller. Is there anyone out there that has a diagram or has done this before to give me some hints to the degree of trouble I am in?
Overall it is the best small car I ever owned, and I had more than 30 including Escorts and a Ranger, however, this defect is upsetting. I have to get it done, because it is stuck in “blow in the face” mode and it is cold here in Canada!
I would really appreciate help or hints with this issue please!
The only other thing that was an issue with my Ford and I found out others had this issue, is the fuel vent line -- this gets blocked, I assume by the charcoal filter and prevents normal fillups, because the gasoline bubles up and stops the gas pump after a few seconds. I cut the vent line at the rear and pushed air with the compressor... which made the other end of the tube in the mid-section pop out. I guess the charcoal filter is really stuck, probably filled with gasoline, or gummed up from the fumes. I have no idea where this filter is or how to replace it, so I hpatched up where I cut the hose at the back and I have left the other end hanging under the car. It is going to come back and bite my back end when I will have to do the enviro certification.
Any ideas out there from my fellow Fordists?
Cheers!
Dan
