Well i figured it was only a matter of time before i scrapped one of my rims. But i figured it would be parking it or something of the such. Almost being wiped out by a bus was not on the drawing board in the slightest!
I was pulling out of my drive way to go to work. I spotted a bus that was half way down the road and thought to myself. 'Yeah plenty of time there' So started reversing out and saw that there was park cars about 3 houses up my street. So there i was reversing out went to put it in gear and i STALLED it! So you can imagine how i was feeling stuck in the middle of the road with a stalled car trying to start my car with a bus not slowing down.
Manage to get it started, got it in gear and accelerated quickly to get out of the way. Now where my house is theres minor bend in the road. And due the the parked cars, Mr Bus Driver thought it was in its best 'interest' not to slow down at all and cut the corner. Doing so i kinda ran out of lane right on the bend, getting the front through wasnt a prob and i was almost out of the corner when i heard the most hated sound in the world. My right back rim making slight contact with the gutter. NOT HAPPY!
But dont forget this is me so it wasnt just a little scratch....Oh no...This is a huge 10cm scrape into the rim with a really deep section in mone spot.
No matter live and learn. No chance of going after the bus driver cause he is one of the Tongon's (I cant spell that!) weighing in at about 140kg. Not just built like a brickk shit house...He is the brick shit house!!!
Extremly upset
Russ

Repairable? There are some great guys who'll repair rims for not a huge deal of cash, FAR cheaper than new rim. Also make sure your alignment is ok, or else you'll be replacing tyres sooner than you think... bad luck though mate, not a nice story!!!
One thing though - why didn't you just drive back into your driveway? Or stay where you were and stay in your lane? The bus was in the wrong and although you would probably have been close, at least you would have been able to NAIL his ass for not slowing down!!
I once had a bus pull out from a bus stop on a 4 lane section of Parramatta Road, city bound just before Sydney Uni starts. He pulls out thinking "Hey, It IS peak hour and I am a bus and even though there isn't a single friggin square mm of space in the traffic that GHEY sign on my bum tells people to give way so I'll just yank my wheel and pull her out into the 60km/h traffic...." well interesting little events occured following. Someone approaching in lane 2 (the lane he was merging into illegally) behind him slammed on the brakes and swerved into lane 3 to avoid the bus. a car in lane 3 hit the picks and didn't really swerve much, but the woman in front of me in lane 4 hit the brakes hard (not that there was any reason) and I went straight up her arse in full glorious tyre squealing lock-up. I was on my P's an it was my only ever incident. Left a paint scuff on the fron bumper of the mighty Festiva (she was driving a Festiva also!!!) and we didn't have to worry, but I have HATED Sydney buses with a vengeance ever since.
Jeez mate, i know how u feel. Just a month after i got my foci had to go an pick up my younger brother from school, funnily enough when i arrived there was barely any parking. i saw a spot directly accross from the school but the way they are these days with illegal parking i was a lil wary because there was a cop car parked just down the road. So stupid me, i decided to do a u turn into a driveway, reverse out and while i was doing so i was too concentrated on the cops rather than where i was parking. i drove forward into the parking spot only to see the front left of the car dip down a lil and hear the most disgusting noise i had ever heard. sum huge scrapage occured lol, but at first i thought there goes my front bodykit. when i got out to inspect the damage all i saw was a nice scraped rim, scratched on two of the spokes an the outer rim between them. then i looked at the culprate, one of those old skool drains that had a huge dip in it which pretty much forced my wheel to scrape. ever since that happened i am so careful when parking close to curbs, but hopefully soon will save sum cash to upgrade to the 17" rims

Drains have been the downfall of my last set of 17's.
Sorry to hear about the rims, Russ, they are the nicest set of rims I have seen on a Focus to date!
How good do they look!
Hope you manage to get the rim repaired, road damage is bound to happen. Think of it this way, if the Focus couldn't make it thru that gap, nothing was gonna!
Keep us updated on it, no doubt its upsetting!
Tim

How much boost?
Well i am abit calmer now. I like to think of the scratch as making my Foci more 'rally' like! And Todd when a bus is speeding towards your side of the car the last thing you are thinking about making sure you hit the bus so you dont damage your rim...

lol....um I hadnt actually replied to this thread Russ .....maybe you were thinking of Matt (Zetec).....
"Or stay where you were and stay in your lane? The bus was in the wrong and although you would probably have been close, at least you would have been able to NAIL his ass for not slowing down!!"
I agree with you mate, BUS Vs FOCUS.....BUS 1 : FOCUS KO (NIL)
