Hi I have a 2001 2.0 Ford Focus Ghia,
The remote key has stopped working. I have had the battery changed and it still does not work also the boot quick release does not work any more.

I guess the next thing I should check is the fuse for the central locking. Does anyone have any idea where this is and if it is a standard fuse the sort I could get from halfords etc?

have a good look inside the fuse box behind the glovebox, have to pull out the glovebox first. There should be a diagram in your owner's manual for what fuses do what am I right? Help me out here guys!!!

Yeah there will be fuse instructions in the Cars manual, check the fuses in teh bonnet as well

Easier to take it back to ford if you still have warranty left on it and make them fix it before teh warranty runs out

I would have looked under the bonnet in the big fuse box first... but keys die, unfortunately. If you lock one door with the key and the other (or all depending on the car - being a Ghia I assume four door) locks, then maybe its the key rather than the central locking fuse.

Too bad they are costly to replace to just try it and see if it's the problem.

I think if you pull the battery out of these keys, then they need to be programmed back to you car. try this:
Within 6 seconds the ignition must be turned on and off again 4 times. This starts the programming mode. the turn signals will flash twice if you get it right! now press any button on the remote within 10 seconds. when the GEM accepts the key, it will beep at you. to get out of program mode just turn the ignition on, or don't do anything for at least 10 seconds.
if this doesn't help, then go see your Ford Dealer for a warranty claim.
