Difference between a Steeda and an SVT Focus?

Hey Knowledgeable people:

I went to the Ford dealership a couple weeks ago and I was looking at a used Focus SVT. The salesman pointed to the plastic engine cover and said "that's the supercharger, it's where it gets all its power from."

I immediately turned around and drove off.

I currently own a 2000 323ci cabrio - mildly modded and it's my weekend/nice weather cruiser. My current beater is a 96 Civic EX with 150k miles. I am buying a condo and a dog soon so I could really use a hatchback. It has to be manual, as all my cars currently are. I'm guessing I can get a couple grand for the Honda and I don't want to spend too much because I plan on buying a used 993 C4S next year when my Bimmer is paid off. Therefore, I'm trying to keep my budget to 10k or under, with a lengthy factory warranty is possible.

I've looked at Audi 1.8t Avants, but I don't think anyone bought a manual, plus they are a bit pricey.

I've thought about a GTI as a possibility, but being a huge WRC fan, I wouldn't mind having a Markko Martin special.

Any ideas what I can get? It also has to be silver to match the Bimmer and the PCar to come next year. Other than that - I don't think I need a lot.

I saw a Focus branded "Steeda" but the salesman was useless. Is there any difference between the Steeda and the SVT? Will it be impossible to find a decent specimen in the 10k range? If so I can go with a baseline model I suppose, I just don't want something dog slow and I have very little intentions of modding this car.

An A3 or a 206 would be perfect but they don't sell them here in the states.

Ideas and suggestions are welcome. I'm very knowledgeable when in comes to Bimmers, but I apologize for my lack of Ford knowledge.

P.S. How do I get the img to show under my sig? I just copied it from another forum so it should work....

Here's a picture of my car...
