So have a 2005 Focus SE 2.0L that when scanned has no codes but the check engine light is on ever so lighty or about 1 /5 normal illumination. Any one run into before?

Yea and the light from the rpm and mph is just shinning through a little, you will know when it lights up, and to fix it just make sure your cluster is securely pressed together. If you have a face plate it may not be tight to the cluster and be allowing light to get through too.

No that's not the problem here, it is intermittent and will very in illumination from dim to not on at all. So far just living with it but would like to know whats up just the same.

Well me and a couple friends have narrowed it down to the face plate gets loose and allows light to get it, but I'm not talking about that^ face, I'm talking about this face coming loose and allowing light through.

You can see the little lights are separate from the main cluster of light for the RPM and MPH, if you get this^ far, take a look at the backside of the plate you just removed to get to this^ point and you should see that for the engine light there is a separate piece of paper there, my guess is it has come loose, take it apart and see if it need to be glued back on.

If ya need help taking it apart let me now I've done a couple of these in my time.

Sounds like it could be a bad ground / earth .
