Anybody know whether ford dealers could install the focus factory cruise control as in the focus ghia into my zetec? and if so any ideas how much they would charge. and what the the aftermarket options for cruise control and how do they compare to the ford factory unit?

That's a good question, I miss the cruise control out of my Falcon and wouldn't mind it installed into the Focus as well.

I'll try calling Ford tomorrow to see what they have to offer.... wouldn't mind knowing what else is available either.

Cruise control is only factory fit. There is a aftermarket cruise kit available one type is AUSCRUISE BY AUTRON which we fit and seems to works ok.But as we all know theres nothing as good as the genuine item.

I may be proven wrong, but I've ordered genuine Ford cruise to be fitted, by the dealer, to my wifes 5 door Focus Zetec. As far as I'm aware it's sitting at the dealer waiting for me to book it in. All you need to tell them is if you have a leather wrap steering wheel or not. Approx. price fitted with leather wheel $530, without $600.

hmmm...i gotta take my zetec in in the next week or so so i'll ask at my dealer if they can do it too. any idea why its cheaper to install on a leather wrapped wheel?

Yeah, was just thinking that very same thing....

600 bucks, might use the Human Sub-Concious Cruise Control Kit (tm) for a while longer, money would be better spent elsewhere for now, in my opinion.

I believe that the leather wheel has the ability to fit the cruise bits n pieces whilst the standard one doesn't. If you don't have leather, the added cost is replacing your current wheel with the leather jobbie to allow fitment of the cruise.

i also heard that any Zetec fitted with VDC Advance Trac (mine) cannot take cruise control.
that bites. Can anyone confirm that?
