Focus Drive!

Well, not a local one. I've read somewhere that they've begun appearing from container ships, but it will be a little while yet before we get to test drive a Focus at a Ford showroom.

However, this Wednesday I leave our sunny shores again for a jaunt OS. I'm in Singapore for a mere 2 days and nights, leaving Saturday morning for the UK.

Hire car has once again been approved for my three week stay, and my managers PA has done her best to get me a Ford Focus!! I've driven a Mondeo twice (the second was a Zetec 2.0l version) but I'm pretty keen to see how the Focus goes. Last trip I suffered a Fiat Punto - never again!

The PA said 'is a manual ok?'. The look on my face must have given her the right answer, because she then said 'oh that's good, manuals are cheaper.'

:s5

I'll post a Focus drive report, assuming I do get one, after I've arrived at work (Monday night.)

On Friday, the Sydney CBD was covered with Ford Focus advertising posters. They looked good. I think it was the blue st170 model.

I just heard that the first Ford Focus intended for Australia just got driven off the production line in the last 24 hours. It was a 3 door model from the Ford Germany plant.

I had one for two weeks last September in England. Lovely gold colour. It was one of the bottom end, manual LXi.

Comfortable to drive, not a lot of go but better than Laser, can be persuaded with some revs, and great to throw around, suspension seemed harder than Laser. Bugger all weight in the back so front can drift away if you let it.

Don't get your hopes up for a rocket or you'll be disappointed.
