The Age has a nice little story about the Focus in showrooms before years end or early 2003.

Once again Toby is the man behind the story.

In other age news HSV want a bigger gap between itself and holden and are looking to Europe to achieve this

Also the 250 ute is tested!

The article actually shows the RS model and makes mention of this being a possibility a bit further down the track.

The article goes on to say that the official word from Ford is "still under evaluation" but for some reason the article seems to gloss over this fact. Guess the media must run new car programs. I might email Toby and see if I can get the GT a bit quicker.

I wonder do car companies have someone buying papers first thing of a morning to see what interesting gossip the media has install today, or I wonder has the witch hunt started for the loose cannon. Either way this is a public service anouncement making sure that all FF readers are aware of speculation and unfounded rumours. Who's taking money on this one?

The media never let the facts get in the way of a good story, they are just trying to sell papers which puts the circulation figures up which attracts more advertisers with lots of $$ to spend so Packer and Murdoch can recoup some of the dough they lost on One-Tel. Quite simple really.

I can't comment on the article, but we've heard this kind of thing before.

The Focus costs far too much to be competitive with the Astra down under (not sure why, though), which is the reason that Ford Australia has gone to the trouble of breathing new life into the Laser range with the SR20, etc.

It would be great to see the Focus (though sad to see the end of the Laser after 21 years), but I think Ford is smart enough to concentrate on the forthcoming Falcon instead.

If it is true it will be very good, the AV XR6 Turbo will be getting new ppl into the Ford market and if the focus came there would be a huge influx in Ford-buying ricers....I do not condone rice in anyway what-so-ever, but this would equal lots more money for Ford AU.

Is the 180kw version the RS or a cosworth? Hope we get a 160kw + turbo AWD version for FTE to take on WRX.
