Focus ST170

The car looks great and all, but the point of this thread is it's price. $45,000 for the bugger? That's too much I reckon. Why would it sell for that much?

The Clio Sport would be it's clostest market rival as they both have about the same power, and are little FWD sports cars, but the Clio sells for about $33,500.

I really dont think the Focus ST170 should sell for much more than $35,000. I'm sure it will lose some sales due to it's price.

eek

$45 grand???? bugger me backwards with a blunt root vegetable! when i can buy a rex or a 200 sx, or xr6 or used xr8 for that kind of money, that is a lot of money for a car with reasonable, not great, performance. i bitched about the price / performance ratio of the laser sr2. ford need to take 10 grand off that price before they get anyone to touch it. oh well, looks like i wont bother then...first sale just walked away :-(

i think motor mag have it all wrong with their estimates because 45g's is a fair kick in the nuts, imagine the rs did lob down here, how much would that be, 60 K, when you could buy an xr8/te50 equivalent....
I'm just hoping motor mag have it very wrong, I HOPE

The SR2's are about 29grand I think. That's quite a bit for a car of it's performance. The ST170 does high 7's 0-100, but 45 large ones are 10 large ones too many.

For Christ sakes Ford drop them about 10 grand.

yeah......i think that the st170 should be at least 15k below the XR6. I'm thinking that maybe 35k would be a reasonable price too. there's no way it should go up to rex territory price-wise.....even 35k is getting close to 200sx price range. oh well, i guess faith should be put into people in hq.
