Lately i have been tossing up on whether to buy a Focus Zetec 3 door and give it a (much needed) performance upgrade Eg. extractors, exhaust, cold air (bonnent vent) etc. I really love the look and chassis of the car, but like the journos say, it needs oooomph to match the chassis. I would love a ST170, but unfortunately i can not afford the extra $10k

Does anyone here on FF have a foucs and tried to enhance it? Do aftermarket parts exist for them yet? I have seen some Ford Racing parts in the US- do ford OZ dealers sell them here?

If some of you are thinking why not get a BA or AU XR6/8, well i will probably be living in melb suburbs and a falcon is too big and thirsty for my immediate needs- but the future.....YES!

According to this months wheels mag Ford have found some missing power in the engines. Apparently the dealer can do the fix if its an already made focus. Prob not the power increase you're thinking of though!

yeah so i read 104625. I guess i will take anything i can get. I just wish it had a better stock engine............i cant make up my mind!

Im the same TurboDOHO we need a smaller town car and wouldnt mind something to fling around corners, but that motor is a shocker. Hard to justify when a poverty pack corolla has 100kw. But I DO wanna justify it.

Let us know what you decided.

It's not actually that bad. It performs what I would call average for the class. Have a drive of a Corolla and you'll find yourself asking where that 100kw is!

When I bought my car, one of the cars I test drove was the Corolla Levin. I must admit it it packed a little punch in 2nd but like Ratt says "wheres the 100kw?" After purchasing a Zetec I have absolutely no regrets about the comparison and choice I made. As for infocusmotorsport, rang them 2 days ago and they said that thier turbo kit for the Zetec should be ready soon. Cant wait!
