Ford Focus 1.4 high fuel consumption
Hi all,
I bought my new Ford Focus 1.4 petrol, with 80PS in august 2006 in Macedonia. The fuel consumption in the begining was very high, up to 16l/100km. The reply from local ford dealer was that this is normal in the begining, and it will decrease. But after 1,5 year the consumption is still very high. The minimum is 10l/100km (I drive it, very carefully), normal 12l/100km, and sometimes it reaches 14 (when my wife drives it for a longer time). How can I decrease the fuel consumption of my car?
Also, sometimes the engine turns off after I start it. Especialy in winter. Local ford says that the fuel is bad.
Some people here also complain for these same problems, and some don't. A friend of mine has the previous Focus 1.4 petrol 70 or 75PS Ztec, and sais the consumption is 8-9l/100km city drive.
Otherwise the car is good. One other small thing is that the doors are creaking when I go up and down an edge.
Regards, Andreja.
