Hi everyone

Ive recently bought myself a little project...

At the moment theres a couple of things wrong with the car but i can't get it even running at the moment.

There seems to be an injector problem so im told but at the moment the key won't even work, you put the key in the ignition turn it to start then the PATS light flashes 1 : 5
i was told when it was last running a diesel specialist was looking at the car and managed to get it started and not long after it wouldnt start again.

The main problem for me is that i only have one key so i can't even try a spare.

the guy told me that because the injector problem it didnt start all the time or run very well if it did, i recon the guy tried turning it over for ages and it burn't something out.... is this possible ? what could have burnt out to cause this?

is it worth me getting the car re programmed and two new key or may there be an under lying fault?

PLEASE HELP!!!!

Dont really know what he would burn out as you suggest , more likely to run down battery or POSSIBLY damage starter .1:5 is the code for " Key not programmed into PATS. Program key using master key." Think you will have to solve that fault first and get car running to see what else needed .

The only thing with that is as i said i was only given one key, he claimed he didnt know where the other one was

The battery is fairly new and its had a new sterter moter about 2 months ago.

what if the car was running and it cut out then wouldnt start again?

could this still be just a re propramming problem?

Has the car been running since you've had it ? If not and the engine / starter does not turn over and you only have one key, you WILL probably have to take it to the dealer to get it programmed .

no i bought it cheap as a non runner. ive asked the guy to have a good look for the key and hes going to let me know if he finds it.

yup think thats the best bet to get it running again and start sorting out the other problems :)

hi i havn't managed to get the PATs problem sorted yet mainly because i dont think it will solve it that easily

Ive bought myself a diagnostics lead and disc and sure enough it has on there

B1601 PATs received incorrect key code from ignition transponder

it also had

B1359 Ignition run/accessory circuit failure (this has not come back since it has been cleared)

and the other on was

U1262 SCP (J1850) transceiver communication bus
it had a long list of different codes attached to this on what does this mean ?
this i the main reason i dont think re programming wont work....

Yeah i know i understand that, but what could the other codes mean?
what im wondering is if theres other promlems will the system take on new key yet ? or will it not work untill the transceiver communication bus failure code is fixed? ......
thinking its a bin job!!!!

Looks like you are caught between a rock and a hard place . You could sort out the PATS , get it running and the engine or gearbox for instance could be knackered or who knows what other costs for repairs may be needed .Maybe the seller knew this when he passed it off to you . Your shout whether to gamble or not . On the other hand , could be o.k and need minor repairs / further work .
