[Ford Focus ZX3] Unknown melted component

Hello. What is this part, where does it go, and what is it's functionality? Google has failed to turn up anything.
The 'closest' thing that shows up, is something about a DPFEE? sensor. And the images don't line up.

Here's the part number: #2FIE-9J460-AB
Here's a picture of the melted part:

Thanks.

That is a DPFE sensor, you are correct.

The reason it doesn't line up with other pics, is because like mine, on certain years they changed it.

What year is this again? 03?

The year is 2001. Zetec engine as well (same as the video below)

Ah, okay. After another quickie Google search: I see what you're referring to.
But again: Another minor issue that needs to be addressed (and may explain the melting failure in the first place).

This is what the sensor should look like (with rubber on the metal components):

Any idea of where to find/buy that rubber hose fitting over the metal pipe? Or a way to jimmy-rig it at least?

Thanks again for the help. One less thing to worry about (for now). :)

The rubber hose is nothing special, I think I got some laying around in the garage under a table somewhere.

Go to autozone, or advance auto parts, and pick up a couple different sizes, cut it, fit it.

Don't know if your still having problems with this or not, but I came across this that might help, they updated it not too long ago with pics.

From what I read about the DPFE sensor: It shouldn't cause too much of a ruckus with, or without it. I haven't replaced the sensor, found any rubber hose for it to attach to, or anything else of the sort. I figure at best: I'm losing some potential gas mileage, and possibly destroying the catalytic converter a little faster than normal.

Thanks for the link (it's where I got the image from, from earlier).
