Front headlight rubber gasket/cover broken
Hi,
has anybody ever had the following problem? If you lift the bonnet you will see a small rubber cover that sits just over the top of the front headlight ('99 Mk1) and protects it from the bonnet. Whilst washing my car over the weekend, this rubber cover popped up - inspection of it showed that it had cracked off the plastic strip it was glued to - unfortunately the glue held but the plastic cracked off right on the lip so its practically impossible to fix.
I asked Ford this morning for a replacement and was told I needed a complete new lamp! Yeah right.
I'm on the hunt for a scrapyard replacement, the strip is held down by four small clamps - I have no idea how difficult these will be to get on or off. Has anybody ever had this problem before?
