Be honest with me - should I avoid an 03 focus?

Particularly this one

Christian Auto Sales :: Autos : 2003 Ford Focus Pitch Black Clearcoat ZX3 FWD Pre-Owned, Used Cars Anoka MN,Pre-Owned Autos Minnesota,55303,Previously Owned Vehicles Anoka County MN,Used Auto Dealer Roseville,Used Car Dealership Minneapolis,Affordabl

I'm hearing horror stories about the reliability of the car, especially in the cold (kind of a big deal in Minnesota!) but I realize most people only review stuff online to complain.

However, if the car really is as unreliable as people say, please be honest. I'm coming from a Civic which endured my abuse in my years learning to drive, so I'd like to know if I'm getting my hands full (not a good idea in college)

Never owned or drove one, but here's two places I look for public opinion when buying a used car:

2003 Ford Focus Consumer Reviews
2003*Ford*Focus Consumer Reviews

They are as good , if not better than any other 10/11 yr old car with similar specs on the market .But dont expect to have trouble free motoring with any car you buy in that price range .

Re: Be honest with me - should I avoid an 03 focus?

I would say overall very good little cars. Like everything else can get some that have more problems than others based on vehicles history. I wouldn't say there are many major problems with them. My wife drives an 04 with 170k on it. I will say I don't care for the way it handles in the snow but it doesn't have the best brand tires on it. If it's clean and all checks out I wouldn't be afraid.
