Kits add zip to Ford Focus

Ford's racing performance parts group worked with Wings West to develop a body kit that makes a regular Ford Focus look like a rally car. The Fast Focus catalog even includes some decals that look like racing graphics.

Do you like the aggressive look of the Ford Focus SVT?

Now you can get that and even more radical styling for your basic production Focus. Body kits and high-performance upgrades — including a V-8 engine transplant — fill the pages of a new 36-page “Fast Focus” catalog from Ford Racing Performance Parts.

Ford Motor Co.’s Dearborn-based racing parts division worked with the company’s Special Vehicle Team as well as Ford of Europe, Cosworth Racing and several leading accessory and custom components suppliers to develop high-performance and appearance parts that fit the more than one million Focus vehicles currently on the road.

All of the parts that accent the styling of the Focus SVT are available, as are many sizes and styles of wheels, a Jackson Racing supercharger kit, Borla exhausts, Iceman cool air systems and many other components that boost the performance of the four-cylinder Focus engines.

There’s even a kit developed with Kugel Komponents of La Habra, Calif., that converts the four-cylinder, front-drive Focus into a V-8-powered, rear-drive mini monster.

“The Ford Focus is the only domestic-branded sport compact car that competes, and wins, in the World Rally Championship,” Ford racing performance parts manager Jamie Allison noted in unveiling the new parts recently in Los Angeles.

Ford worked with Wings West of Santa Ana, Calif., to develop body panels that give a street-legal Focus the look of a racing rally car. Pre-painted in factory colors, a fender flare costs $75, a rear fascia runs $399 or an entire kit with front and rear fascias, front and rear fender flares and a huge rear wing costs $1,299.

For more information, visit the Ford Racing parts Web site at
fordracingparts.com, where you can find a list of retailers that sell the parts.

For a closer look at the Wings West kit, visit wingswest .com. Also featured in the catalog is a wicked sport compact body kit from American Products Co., whose Web site is AmericanProductsCompany.com.

For questions about which parts best fit your Focus, call Ford’s technical hot line at (586) 468-1356.

Re: Kits add zip to Ford Focus

i was actually just looking at that bodykit and was about to post it p here. beat me to it. good stuff. im considering the kit minus the spoiler. i gotta say, i'd love to lump a v8 in the zetec aswell...although i expect it may be just a little out of my budget.

Re: Kits add zip to Ford Focus

I was just thinking.......might be a stupid question but where is the reverse light situated with that body kit?
and with that kit does that mean we'd have to lose the front and rear fogs?

Re: Kits add zip to Ford Focus

i actually dont know where the reversing lights are to be honest. i didn't think of that. have to look into it. i don't have rear fogs so that doesn't bother me, but i dare say you'd lose them. and as for fronts, if you want them im sure they could be installed in the gaps somewhere. its not a practical body kit at all really, but its the rally kit and i think it looks great, except for the spoiler and the lights.

Re: Kits add zip to Ford Focus

oh yea you cant see the front from that pic. sorry i should post it up, but i don't have anywhere to host it. anyways yes zetec it has the wrc front bar. its the full wrc body kit as on the wrc car. you can buy that and then add on a roof vent and the double vented (evolution style) hood and some nice wheels and it'll be awesome. when i get the cash ina few months im considering just that. but im still unsure as to where the reversing lights go.....i guess the wrc car may not even have them....they don't often go backwards.....

Re: Kits add zip to Ford Focus

lookout Tim's credit card is about to cop a beating...

I imagine reversers would be integrated in the rear lights.
