BRENTWOOD, Essex, April 28, 2008 – Fast, fun and fabulously good looking, a new version of Ford’s performance flagship Focus goes on sale at dealerships across Great Britain from May 1. Created by Ford TeamRS, the company’s dedicated performance vehicle arm, the 2008 Focus ST benefits from the new exterior and interior styling changes introduced across the rest of the Focus line-up earlier this year. Importantly though, while offering new technologies and features, the car’s well-honed dynamics remain untouched.

This will save the Focus in North America for sure ..we probably won't see it for five years. Same happened with the current gen, took forever to make its way across the pond (YEARS). I'm sure Ford NA will wait until the 2010 emission regulations to take effect before importing it - and it better have a diesel.

The current coupe and sedan aren't very appealing. They redesigned nearly every part of the car, but it's still utilizing a frame that was created in the late 90's. Ford has to stop cheapening out and get that coupe here.

Opinions in the ST owner camps are divided as you might expect, some prefer the original (my) shape, others the facelift. Things I don't rate about the new are;
the lack of a lock on the filler flap,
door mirrors are new Mondeo style ie not nice,
new design wheels appear smaller.
