when i first got it it was very very very jerky every single time
i have a zetec automatic that jerks at times every now and then , i noticed that most people heer have manuals so dunno if u can help, ford says the australian fuel and climate has something to do with it? , i use BP ultimate only as off like a month ago , use to use any 95 ron mostly vortex i think it is from woolworths, i added a BMC panel air filter for more smoothnest it makes a good differnce plus i have the most recent software upgrade but the dam thing is still jerky at times ( and yes the fuel tank and injectors r all clean). anyone have this experience? can it be fixed ? ( i think it wil be fixed wit maybe 1 more software upgarde calibration, but man ive had a jerky "NEW CAR" for over a year
i have a auto zetec as well (mrs can't drive a manual) but never had that problem yet but only had it for two weeks. But have heard this problem before being linked with woolworths petrol so may be give it a bit ore time to clear out the tank and see how she goes
Hmm, we just picked up a second Focus in auto so I'll take it out for a run and see what I notice.
The other thing I'd look at is the throttle cable, sometimes that can have a kink in it, and cause it to be jerky as the kink gets past a sticky point. Hard to diagnose without driving it.
Does it jerk while staying at the same throttle setting, ie cruising, or more when going from off power to on power, or vice versa?
It could possibly be a driveline related problem, but its more rare in FWDs, usually RWD Falcons get driveline slop and cause jerking when going from off power to on power, etc.

How much boost?
oh yeh plus i have like 5 more years warranty so i wont accept this for much longer i dun really care what they say, a new car bein jerky just not right in my opinion , i took it in for the calibration software upgrade and they said well take a look at the jerkyness it came back much better but stil jerky hmmm ....
like i said before they tell me its fuel and climate the zetec takes premium and has always had premium but il give it a month or 2 more
if none else has this problem maybe i have a lemon and time for warranty?
did you wear the car in... hope you didnt flog it around when u just picked it up from the showroom hehe
when i got my new manual fiesta ( yeah yeah i know wrong section of the forum) i noticed the clutch and gear box were slightly jerky but after a couple weeks when it started wearing in it was fine.
but yeah, i know little of autos. dealerships are usualy fu%#ing hopeless. id personaly suggest going to a auto transmission place and get em to have a look at it for you. definately doesnt sound right especialy since its a new car... good luck with it :)

my car (manual) can be jerky sometimes, especially when in 1st or 2nd, but its not due to any fault of the car, but more so when i lift off power sharply in 1st or 2nd.
could be the same deal but in your auto?
LOL @ flogging straight away.
your not serious are you??
its the best way to wear them in if you dont want it to last very long.
no explaning needed as to why a car with a brandnew gearbox, engine, EVERYTHING that hasnt even been driven before shouldnt be flogged around.
even ford suggest no rough driving for first 1thousand k's in the manual.
