The engine is a 2.3 liter inline 4 cylinder. It's a Duratec engine, much like that found in the Contour. Ford has been using the 2.3 in their Rangers for a couple years now. Ford claims 145 hp @ 5750 / 149 ftlb @ 4200. As far as the PZEV that means Partial Zero Emission Vehicle. Ford's latest entry to the Greener Pastures of California, New York, and Mass. The fuel tank is enlarged, the fuel lines are stainless steel, the engine actually spins "Backwards" and the headers are on the back side of the engine. I'll get some pics in a few minutes.

You late Focus guys are getting a really good engine to work with when modifying. I was just 1 year too early :(

I traded my 2002 in on the 2003 8-) And the springs and struts will come after the engine mods.

Not really. I believe it is the same or reworked version of the 2.3 in the ranger. Mazda gets a different version as the worked the engine over with their own tuning.

Really nice car, hot wheels. The ride height is tall though, you could almost go off-roading in that thing.
