Ford Cosworth Focus concept Inspired by the 1999 Focus World Rally car, Ford designers developed the Cosworth Focus to show potential for future performance derivatives of the all-new Ford Focus. The concept car is powered by a Cosworth-developed 2.0-liter turbocharged engine that produces more than 200-horsepower. It rides on ultra-low profile 18-inch wheels which adds to the car's muscular stance.
The Cosworth Focus' exterior is distinguished by unique lower body panels, new front bumper with integral fog lamps and a roof-mounted rear spoiler, designed to provide significant downforce at higher speeds. The sporting theme continues inside with Recaro front seats, alloy pedals and unique steering wheel, shift knob and instrument cluster.
The Cosworth Focus was created by engineers at Ford's Special Vehicle Engineering and Advanced Design departments working closely with Cosworth Racing. "With Ford Focus, the team already had a stiff, light body structure coupled with outstanding handling, steering and stability," says Al Kammerer, vehicle line director for the Ford Focus. "This concept car pushes these attributes even further for the enthusiastic driver, pointing the way for future performance derivatives."
