Odd noise from rear passenger side wheel

To start, I have a 2002 SVT Focus... Just had my rear brakes/rotors replaced at pep boys, maybe 3-4 weeks ago. the sound started off as a rubbing noise from the rear right wheel, this was maybe a week ago.

Today around dinnertime there was a minor rythmic bumping from that wheel, about 8 hours later, sounded like a freight train (the bang bang bang noise that the wheels make as they go down the track) and the car was violently pulling to the right. Someone told me it could be the brake caliper frozen, or something to that effect. But I'm just concerned I'm going to loose a wheel and kill myself or someone else...

Re: Odd noise from rear passenger side wheel

It's also making a minor squeaking noise, and I drove 1/4 mile to little ceasers today and it was kind bumpy on that back wheel. The tire is 100% inflated to what it should be so it isn't that. The problem seems to go away when the brakes are applied, of course that could be due to slowing down. Brakes are quiet and sound like they should when applied, minus that noise that's bascally always there.

Re: Odd noise from rear passenger side wheel

Well I jacked the car up, the wheel has about one inch of play on each side when I move it left/right, and when I dropped the car back down, looks like the suspension is stuck about three inches higher than the other side, and was creaking when I was sitting on the rear bumper trying to push it back down.

Sounds like wheel bearing knackered .

Re: Odd noise from rear passenger side wheel

Yeah sort of had a feeling...

Also, when I lowered the car, the suspension is kind of stuck higher up than it should be. The left side I have about three fingers worth of room between the tire and wheel well, on the right, I can fit a whole fist. The suspension still seems to work when I push down on the back bumper, but has a loud creaking noise (same tire with the alleged bad bearing)

Re: Odd noise from rear passenger side wheel

sounds like a wheel baring, and as far as the suspension being stuck up it should settle back into place when you get some load back on it by driving it around the block, also the creak noise that you heard when you tried to put it back down into place was the e brake, cause i am guessing you still had it applied , hope i helped....
