Well it only took 4,000km for me to destroy the Zetec's clutch.
This afternoon after a morning of shopping for whitegoods (we bought a new dishwasher, no more washing dishes thankyou ) I have managed to destroy the clutch in my Zetec.
The scenario:
"Oull off the main road into the left hand turn lane, shift back to second for the corner, power out of the corner up to 5,000rpm, clutch in, shift...hang on the gear isnt going in....double clutch it....still no gear, float around corner in nuetral to the roundabout, slow down, try to shift back to second, "CLUNK" , its in, putter around corner up to giveway sign, nuetral, first gear selected, accelerate "shudder; shudder; shudder" well I am going, clutch in, move to second...its tight and I have to ram it into gear....back to first gear for the drive way and the shudders start again and I can hardly get enough friction out of the clutch to get up the drive".....
So I guess I will be straight up to FORD tomorrow morning, requesting a courtesy car so I can get to work and then Uni...not impressed but then again I had been complaning of my clutch rattle since about 500km old, not that I know that it has anything to do with the current problem.
So Russ, want to buy a Zetec clutch?......

German car built for World Drivers for world roads that outhandles and outguns a Falcon for half the price... mmmm Zetec...
My clutch must be the mother of all clutched given the way I drive, the exhaust and everything!!! There must have been a faulty batch or something. When were all your Zetecs builts guys?
UPDATE: got to Ford today with some major clutch shudder and dragging up Windsor Road Sydney (thankful I was going against the peak hour traffic)..
Got to Ford and they reckon its going to be 2-3 days, couldnt offer me a courtesy car so they hired me some piece of crap corolla from **** (this thing was filthy, but at least its transport to get me around for the next couple of days). They were a bit suprised by the status of the clutch and reckoned they hadnt had one go on a focus yet!
When I get my Zetec back I should be able to advise everyone of the outcome of its little trip to the Dealer. Until then the corolla gets a flogging.

flog it flog it!!!! They hammer those things. Shame the suspension turns to jelly at more than 0.0001% turn in the road he he he.
Mine's a late 2002 also, no problems so far ,except a hesitance to pick-up into 1st smoothly when cold, but only on the first change of the day usually and not all the time. All I've noticed so far, will have to keep an eye on it. Then take off the zorst and reinstall the stockie and complain.

is the sticking issue a clutch problem? when i took it to get serviced ford said there was nothing wrong, and its hardly happened since. must of changed the gearbox oil or something.
