3 more days!!!!! For all you focus owners who dont seem to take a liking to West Australians for being...well.... West Australians, we over here do get to see our pride n joy take it onto the WRC scene LIVE. So WA isnt so bad after all
Im goin to the super special on sat night and although id love to go to the country stages like last year, this year's Rally Oz has fallen smack bang in the middle of my Uni exam period but none the less, should be good.
Im gona take the day off work n study n cruise around the city and since the service park is at glouster park this year, there is a good chance of spotting a WRC car on the road. My ultimate dream would be Matin's or Duval's focus to pull up beside me on a red light. I would jump outta my car and take as many shots as possible, n even give em a go when the lights go green haha i wish. I can only hope!!
Anyone else in Perth goin or even anyone comin from interstate to check it out? If so, let us know and we shall get a gathering going
Dont they have any sort of good rally championsip in NSW or Vic at all??

They have Australian Rally Championships (ARC) but no Foci currently compete at all. There is talk of Ford entering next year, but in saying that, there was talk of them entering this year at the end of last season also.
Wouldn't cost them that much to import a Group N car from Europe, surely.. :p

Yeh, but considering that ford claims that the LR model focus base isnt suitable for AWD, which is why the RS is only FWD, it wouldnt be feasible to make up a car just for group N category rallying.
I have a feeling that when the new shape focus comes out, it would be more likely to see a focus competing in group N.
I was just thinking a couple of days ago, how do ford claim their model base aint suitable for AWD, but the WRC focus sports AWD and im pretty sure FIA regulations state that the shell of the car has to be the same as the road cars. I mean if they can do it for the WRC cars, they should be able to do it for the road cars
Just expanding on the idea of group N competition, the Corollas that toyota runs in the ARC have had an AWD conversion, and the road cars are FWD. Comon ford, lets see some more AWD foci out sooner rather than later!
I went to Telstra Rally Australia back in 2000 when I was in WA and am planning on getting back there for 2005.
Langley Park was awesome and sitting in the forrests watching those guys fly past is something everyone should experience. Only problem is it gets a little expensive trekking over to Perth.

Sorry, I should be more clear. They already DO have Group N Focus rally cars in rallying in Europe, and only need to import one. Its not a case of it can't be done, it has been done for years, ever since the Focus first came out.
For info.
