I have an 08 Focus and have a rattle coming from the rear end of the car. Sounds almost like a suspension / shock problem. The sound it makes is almost like popcorn popping. I've had Ford look at it twice with each time them telling me it's a bad shock. Both left and right rear shocks have been replaced. The noise still remains. I can only hear the noise when I am going under 20mph but only because normal road noise probably hides the sound at higher speeds. I can stand outside the car while parked and rock it and hear the sound. Any suggestions so I can possibly pinpoint this before taking it back to Ford.

Visit another dealer if the one that has replaced the rear shocks won't do anything else to it. Other rear suspension components may need to be re-torqued, or the guys at the factory missed a step; such as installing a rubber bushing to isolate noise, or the interior guys missed something; such as extra insulation. The techs at the dealer should be able to pinpoint and solve the issue with their equipment. You can drive it while a tech sits in the back with a microphone to pinpoint the noise. Your warranty will cover this.
