While checking out a ST170 (brand new at a dealership) this week, I noticed it had Zetec badges on each side. With the ST170 powered by a 2.0 Duratec engine, Im a little confused as to why it would have Zetec badges. Any ideas ?

got me stumped! Maybe it is trying to give added credibility to the lowere based zetec 'performance' models?

weird. i was of the impression the st170 had no badges on the sides....only a "st170" decal down near the rear wheel. are you sure it was a genuine st170, not a dealer doing up a zetec? just ask them i reckon....they may have just put on the badges to make it look better or somthing. dealers do some silly things somtimes....

Yeah just thinking about it, I can't remember seeing a zetec badge on any of the ST170's I have seen in dealer lots........

Just a hint... I HIGHLY doubt you were driving an ST170 mate. The ST170 doesn't even have a Zetec engine, it's a Duratec 2.0!!!!!!!

Just check the following details...

Did it have an ST170 badge on the boot?
Was it a 6 speed manual? (ONLY gearbox in the ST170, NO Auto)
Were the dash dials White?
Did it have leather seats around the edges and blue cloth in middle?
Was it dark blue with a body kit?
Was it a 2 door?

If you answered no to any of those, it was DEFINITELY not an ST170. The Zetec model is the only other 2 door model, with your Zetec badges on the doors. It also has a grey speedo and tacho dash dials. It only has a 5 speed manual. I has black strips around the doors and not body coloured ones like the ST170.

The following pic is of an ST170 just to help you out... I'm not sure how much you know so apologies in advance if you think I'm being patronising, just want to make sure you don't get ripped off!!

Let us know how it was. There is NO variation to that photo WHATSOEVER for a real ST170. Only comes in one colour, one bodykit, one set of wheels and one 6 speed transmission.
