Hi All. I have just had news that the ST170 may suffer from either a faulty fuel pump or fuel pump driver module. This could be a problem with a large number of cars in Australia. The symptoms are Intermittant sluggish drivability at cruising speed, & when booting the accelerator down & possible lack of power on the highway after long periods of driving. You could still have this problem even if the engine light does not indicate a problem, but my indicator does come on regularly for no particular reason & has sluggish performance. The sensor on the fuel pump circuitry is monitored by the engine management. The fault diagnosis indicated that the fuel pump or circuitry is suspect. The ford dealer has had another ST170 with the same probelm recently.
Standby for the answer from Ford in the near future when they decide what should be changed first, the pump or the module. Take your bets now.
My car has had the problem since new but the fault codes were not known until now. ( found a good Ford dealer )
I can also boast that the 170 recently keep in front of a New Monaro, but they are very even with the Monaro not being able to get closer, Naughty must not do that again ...............It was on a 100km hwy from standing start.
keeping up with a monaro....now that would be impressive to watch, and priceless the face of the monaro driver when he sees he cant beat a hatch with his oh so mighty V8...lol..:fly:

I meant you were guessing about what type of monaro it was... I am not saying the ST isn't good, it's quicker than my zetec for sure, just that you were guessing about whether or not it was a cv8 or cv6 when you said that wasacl shouldn't guess about the ST performance.
Hey if I could have afforded an ST I would have gotten one I reckon, very nice cars indeed. You don't need to justify anything to me
I would have got an ST too if I had the money, much more nipper little car ... with better gear than the Zetec (although still would have modified those foggies to the standard focus style and I like the Zetec seats) :fly: ....we are all just jealous chris that our foci cant run as fast as your ST....

Must have been a poorly driven Monaro... dead set, those things crack like a 14second quarter - NO WAY ON EARTH any ST no matter how healthy will pull that. Conditions, tyres, ability, has a lot to do with it, I mean I've crapped on numerous cars that I'd normally not even dare to touch, like the odd turbo that is badly tuned, they think they're all that until you launch off so hard that by the time you're into second gear and pulling away again they hit boost but only enough to keep up...
