Strange noise

Hey guys yet anouther problem with my SVT/ST170.

If you rev the engiene low there is no problem at all but if you give the car some high revs when in neautral as revs fall on the wind down you get a series of what sounds liek pops in quick succession. A friend of mine suggested it could be blow back due to a blockage in the exhaust. Sound right guys? And how could this be fixed?

Re: Strange noise

Exhaust is fine. When you're in neutral there is no load on the transmission or engine. If you get the pop sound when double clutching down then it might be time for a good ol' fashioned tune up including new plugs!

Re: Strange noise

I'm going to go crazy and guess it's a lean misfire. Does it also pop when you take your foot off the throttle at a high RPM?

General maintenance things, like, has the fuel filter been replaced, spark plugs and wires still withing the service schedule, etc...

Aftermarket parts and sometimes throw the air:fuel ratio off and cause a lean misfire.
