Being a member of a peugeot club, hanging around people that are anal getting there cars to handle as best as possible about 80% of them swear by the michelin preceda's, hopefully you can bargain down a set for under $200 a corner

That's the way I'm leaning too, especially after reading the Wheel Tyre Test.

you guys are all giving it to the NCT's, I have not had a single issue with them on my focus or on my falcon.......now I am not saying they are the worlds best tyre, but you guys are making out they are bridgestone donuts or something....

Re: Tyre purchasing - New tyres for the Zetec after 45,000km

Whippet, it depends what you're after from your tyres. I've seen how Matt drives and fail to see how a long wearing touring tyre would suit his driving style. Maybe he wants he wants less performance and more mileage... doesn't seem to match though.

The NCT is decent for what it is, but it is NOT a performance tyre. At the price that Goodyear are asking for them, I'd be buying something else as well. Something like a Bridgestone Potenza GIII is a much better tyre for that kind of money.

And yes it has DONUTS technology...doesn't really mean much, it's just marketing jargon selling us something old disguised as something new.

Did someone say Castrol Magnetec? HAHA

Re: Tyre purchasing - New tyres for the Zetec after 45,000km

Yeah the way I drive I do want to see some grip, I guess I was just looking for a balance again, not necessarily going super sticky to have more grip when it means I'll chew through hoops even quicker than now. But I am going to get something a little better, just not looking for Track tyres that melt in a week :) Thanks for all the help so far though Lincoln, I'll have to do some shopping now I think :o) Also need to find some money somewhere... will start looking under houses.

Re: Tyre purchasing - New tyres for the Zetec after 45,000km

OK - well it's purchasing time, I'm ready to go and what's more the old man has suggested I purchase a set for him too. His Astra Convertible also runs 205/50/R16's so I'll be buying 2 full sets by the looks of it. Michelin Pilots already on his car, although I think they're an older make, not sure (it was dark 2 hours ago when I checked) but we'd probably both get the same tyres. Will be contacting you Lincoln and then letting y'all know how it performs over the next 2 weeks worth of holidays!!!!

Re: Tyre purchasing - New tyres for the Zetec after 45,000km

Matt,

Yeah, the Astra runs Michelin Pilot SXs. They're not sold here anymore. Most of Michelins range here comes from Thailand in Australia.

I'd be deciding between the Dunlops, Goodyears and Michelins, myself. Depends on your budget too...

Look forward to hearing from you. Cheers

Re: Tyre purchasing - New tyres for the Zetec after 45,000km

So my question is how the hell do you get tyres to last 45k ?

My fronts were quite a bit worn down after 15k and will need to be replaced in another 1k or so, which is a total of 20k... never had a tyre last longer then that....
and you think you drive hard !

What do you have on there now anyway... cbf reading the entire thread now

Chris

Chris, you have the Adelaide hills. Simple as that.

He's running NCT 5s.

I've done a track day in the ST and I've got plenty of tread left... and I'm over 15,000km now. Did you rotate? I should make 25,000kms, I reckon. I'm surprised at your tyre wear, quite frankly.
