My right, front, driver-side window was shattered by a vandal on my 2005 Ford focus st zx4. I was able to drive the car home immediately afterward and was having no issues with it prior to this incident. Now my car will not start. The battery is fine and when I turn on the ignition all electronics fuction normally. I tried following the users manual and reset my car alarm key. Still nothing. I am thinking it is an anti theft lockout on my starter? The car does not even try to turn over and before I tyr push starting it, I am hoping someone knows how to reset my car alarm. It is stock. Any help you can offer would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

I don't see how the breaking of the window would cause the car to lock out.

I had my window broken before, and the alarm went off and everything, and I shut it off with the clicker and that was that.

I would check the simpler things first, like the grounds, and wire's over the trans leading from the battery to the starter.

If you can, go rent the OBDll reading from autozone and see what comes up, if it is locked out, the
OBDll might be able to help un-lock it.

EDIT: did the crook mess with the steering column at all? Or lock cylinder?

Just a shattered window and I was in the car when it happened, so no. No messing with the steering collumn. I had a friend tell me to put it in neutral and let it roll backwards a little. amazingly it worked, started right up. Not sure why this reset my alarm. *boggle* but at least my car is running now. thanks
