The 'shifter plate' (I'm not sure of what the name of the actual part is) snapped on the drive home today.
I hardly apply any pressure or force when shifting gears, but I had to put some slightly today, and I heard a great CRACK.
The 1/2 inch thick plastic snapped, all the way across, from left to right.
I'm thinking this damaged was attributed to the previous owner(s), and/or the vibrations from the damaged torque mount.
Either way: Does anyone know the part number off of the top of their head?
Thanks.
I yawed back the gear shifter, as if I was shifting into 2nd gear, so you could see the extent of the damage:

This is just the housing, so you would need to transfer your parts over.
Put this number in> 2S4Z-7210-HA < and it will give you the shifter lever, and some of the hardware for $111.00.
Or you could probably go to the junkyard and get it for $10 bucks, but IDK if JY's are available to you?
The closest junk yard to my house, that has 2001 Ford Focus vehicles, is ~60 miles away, give or take.
Would I not be able to simply unscrew the four bolts, and change out the plastic shifter base plate, with a non-cracked one?
I thought it was simply bolted to the car, and everything else was screwed onto it.
I attempted to use an adhesive on it earlier, but I think it's way too much stress for any adhesive to deal with.
Time for some duct tape...!
Yes. That is the exact part that I need. Thank you for the link.
The adhesive (gorilla glue) works for a very short amount of time. It breaks due to the vibrations, I think.
Shifting with the car off yields incredible results! Starting the vehicle though, and shifting, is too much!
Re: What is the part number to the 'shifter plate?'
Glad to hear you got it solved man, sorry I did not respond to your question, right now I am very busy fighting on price's and doing research to get a fair market value for my recently totaled 03 zx3 D23.

When you've no job? It's fairly expensive. Luckily, I found work last night. I will probably order the part in a week or two, after I am paid.

Oh it's okay. You don't have to answer EVERY question first!
How'd you manage to total it? Did someone broad side you, or were you too busy looking at these forums on your phone while driving (into a tree)?

Thanks. It's going great. I also have a second full time job now along side it.
Do you think it'd be practical to go to a junk yard, and remove the base shifter plate? I've still yet to fix it.
Any idea of how much it would cost to rip it out of a car at a pick-and-pull type junkyard, versus the $40 new (shipping & handling included)?
