An interesting potential effect of this is:-

IF bossedit exists and
IF it can remove the "torque" tags and
IF it gives a good linear performance increase ala LSedit and
IF it is undetectable by the dealer (warranty) then:-

The GT and XR8 would become the "drag strip kings".
CAI and an exhaust together with a software upgrade is going to be heaps cheaper than any the turbo kits floating about.

Even stock hardware other than filter and a software upgrade is going to be easy "stealth" mod.

Ford and especially FPV are going to spew.

Well we will all know next week (or the week after) (or next month) (or one day) maybe..........

As Fordy asked, if you have a manuel and don't want to change rev limiter etc.. but fit a unichip to tune the fuel air ratio etc.. would you need Boss edit or would an aftermarket pcm do yhe job?

I have a unichip fitted to my XR8, after hearing about the effects of rev limits on these motors I wouldnt want to raise mine anyway considering the parts they were built with werent designed to rev high, plus peak power drops off before the rev limit so it may be to no benefit anyway.

If it's just a tune that you want a piggyback style unit is fine in the hands of a good tuner. They can also allow for cams, secondary mapping, NOS or water injection management too

Rodderz we don't know what these motors can take yet but with alot of cars now going around with around 50-60 kw more i have heard of no real dramas.

i read that these 5.4 with a better set of rods and pistons would be good 4 500 to 600 hp

forget any add on interceptors all you need is the edit at what ever stage you chose

rods required for sure maybe i would be wary of the single row and long timing chains as well (unknown)
