Thumbs down Will my Parking Brake Problem be covered by Bumper to Bumper Warranty?

My work parking lot is on a hill so I decided to try using the parking brake on my 2012 Ford Focus. It was working fine until I went to put the brake back down when I left work. I pressed the button on the end of the handle in and it would not come back down.

While the button was stuck, the handle would only go up and not back down, so it became stuck all the way up with the button still all the way in.

After i could not get it to go down, i tried pulling up very gently on the grey button in the middle, that did nothing, so i tired again on the black plastic part of the handle. I only pulled very gently, and it caused the entire black plastic part of the handle to come off along with the grey plastic button in the top of the handle that was stuck. I am now looking at the piece of metal, inside that handle.

This is only the second time i ever used the parking brake, and the car is still under bumper to bumper warranty. Will it be covered, or will I have to pay for this problem out of pocket?

Also would there be a way to fix the problem myslef? The car is currently stuck in a parking lot.

It depends on warranty stares date and current miles. If it meets those requirements it should be unless they determine it was some sort if abuse. That doesn't happen often tho.
