Hey guys i'm thinking of changing careers and working as a car salesman (at a Ford yard of course). It may be an unappropriate question but I'm having trouble getting a truthful answer. Thought there may be some car salespeople out there.
I know they normaly get a small retainer plus a company vehicle. I just need to know a ballpark figure for an average salesperson. Any ideas to my stuiped question?

Was a $400 per week retaineer plus comission from sales. Lots of money when its busy, not so much when its quiet.

It depends on a few things, namely the size and business amount of the dealership. That will also dictate your chances of getting in there.

Thats not that bad. $400 a week + bonus on sales + company car, i might be doin the wrong thing. Then again, im not totally dishonest.

You don't always get a company car though.

You wont get a company car unless you're doing brand new sales.. and to begin with you'd be doing used cars.

I looked into it, it's more close to $500 retainer plus commission.
They'd be a good place to work for!

my friend was a dealer and his first job was selling new cars at Toyota.
They could drive a demo car for $45 a week, but that included $45 of fuel.

Dont forget its a sale job, some find them alright, some people cant stand em.

But then again, if you love Fords youll do great. Working my sales job for a year was the best thing i ever did. You really do learn alot that applies to more than just sales like body language, motivation, management, and soem hardcore people skills. Good luck, let us know how you go.
