Finally got my car back (longish)

and thankgod for that..I dont think we realise how much we rely on cars. As you might remember I hit a curb a while back and basically screwed my front end up. Well after $800 to get most of that sorted, God thought it would be funny to have my head gasket to go a week later (*note to self must start going to church*).

So I take my car to a trusted mechanic to find out that the Head-gasket job would be $1300. I said righto it needs to be done so do it.

Well I get a call back to tell me that he had found other things wrong and most of it needed urgent attention. So I gave the go ahead for that.

Anyway $2150 bucks later I have my EA back and better than ever. This is what I got done-:

- Radiator cleaned out and side tank replaced
- Radiator hose upper and lower
- 7 different heater hoses (wtf!!)
- radiator supply pipe
- new water by-pass pipe
- head-gasket and seal set
- cylinder bolts
- *NEW cylinder head assembly *
- airbox base
- thermostat and o ring
- 2 lifters
- rotor dissy
- s/hand oxygen sensor

and a few other minor things. It goes sooo much better now and fuel economy is way above where it was before.

though it still has a couple of issues. Apparnetly the injectors need cleaning which explains the really rough idle, my steering is still a bit out but nothing too bad and my gas converter needs fixing as water is leaking in.

Other than that shes finally going and Im so happy to have a car again.

And a note to who ever owned this car before me..You cheap f%^^er!!

The head coudln't be machined as there was already some kind of shimmy thing in already..grr!

haha nice...trust me you dont wont to start comparing repairs. Ive spent soo much on repairs that I haven't been able to do 1 MOD!!!

in short I spent and extra $800 on engine mounts and stuff the first week I brought it, had a reco box' put in at a cost of $1500 and I can go on. Kinda makes me wonder why I bothered in the first place..lol

Oh and a word of advice to anyone buying a 2nd hand car..DO NOT USE RACV...dead set they are hopeless!! The only thing thye said was wrong with my car was the diff was a bit noisey, the diff is perfectly fine for its age. Everything else is falling around it...lol

ah well
