Since the last thread got somewhat off topic, I thought I'd start anew. This afternoon the eagerly awaited package finally arrived. A picture has been taken next to the engine to give an indication of its size.
In response to questions on the previous thread, yes it is brand new and no I'd rather not specify the cost. Needless to say I will spend the next month or 2 trying to shed some of this debt.
Dans, to recap, the figures are 650+ HP and 30+ psi. It's a heavy thing that's for sure. The fun part will be devising a manifold, then making the rest of the driveline cope. I've decided straight gas is the only way to go (longer term) so there's another 3 grand there...
And before anyone asks, no I CBF making my engine bay look good, not just yet. It hasn't been cleaned in at least 4 years.
A few of us are trying to get a group buy happening for a discount on the gas research throttle bodies soon, are you interested? Myself, and qwikcorty are going to be running straight gas turbos as well. I think they will be around the $400 mark, You should be able to set the gas system for way less than $3000.
How many forum members are converting there cars to turbo? There has to be at least 6 of us.
Dan

That does sound interesting, if you guys are organising something, keep me posted for sure. I can't say no to a bargain, though I'd rather not spend another cent on this car for a while if I can help it
Will do Jack,
I may be able to have custom intercoolers made for $450 as well off some guy on performance forums but he hasnt got back to me in a while.
Good luck
Dan

$3k for a GRA straight lpg kit installed sounds a little high.
I was quoted $2400 for a conversion to straight lpg in my car, thats underbonnet kit (1400 installed) and a 2nd tank (donut tank in spare wheel well, expensive tanks) so yeah, i'd imagine u'd come off cheaper then $3k. either way i want that :)
