Most of you probably know that I am having a turbo installed onto my EB.
It has been there just on 6 weeks. When I dropped it off I was told it was a one week job from start to finish.
It will not be done by this weekend!!
There have been a few hiccups along the way such as needing to modify my intercooler and change the flange on my manifold to gain some extra clearance for the front housing, which is fair enough but I am starting to get sick of waiting. In the beginning I didnt mind so much as I dont have to drive a lot anymore but I want the car back now.
This isnt the first time either. Once I had to wait 5 weeks for another workshop to do a v8 conversion into my XF. Fastfit my arse!!
If i had done the v8 conversion with my mates like I intended it would have taken 1 weekend, the engine were both carby fed FFS! Dad insisted I get it done 'properly'.
I know people like laminge have had to wait for over a year but that was a major rebuild of his entire car and huge dollars were spent.
How long have you guys been kept waiting by workshops? Who has stories worse than mine to cheer me up.

Im over waiting. Im going to go around there tomorrow to have a looksee.
On top of the 6 weeks Ive been waiting, they made me wait a month before I could give the car to them. Just as well they are really friendly and seem to know what they are doing.
I cant wait till its finished.
Hopefully it will be done by the next drag day...... in November.
My mate took his car to the Mock's and had a full engine rebuild, manual conversion and all new suspension put in in a week and a half.

Lol, my worst so far is like 3 days when the car was at pedders recently for a new powersteering pump new suspension all round. That doesn't really compare to those other stories though!

How can you take such crap from your mechanics? Having said this, I dont know the specifics of what problems they've encountered. Are you being charged by the hour? Shit, if my car was in somewhere longer than 2 weeks that'd be it. Give me the keys im goin somewhere else.
The customer is king. A lot of workshops seem to miss this point, that is, unless you're building a $100,000 500kw Skyline.
If im paying full price for a job to be done - I adopt the "foot on the back of the neck" approach. Constantly call them, hassle them. Make them commit to a day/time - if they exceed this then they better have a damn good excuse. I look at it as "I hang around work until the job's done - if im paying someone then I expect the same".
Longest my car's been in the workshop? 5 hours. Lol, i was there every minute making sure i wasnt getting screwed around, and my mechanic is my best mate. But hey - i work my ass of for my money, i expect nothing less from a service provider.
Car was off the road for 7 days whilst i did the blower install, but under the carport at home so i got to make sweet love with her every night, lol.

I used to work in a performance workshop. One customers car was in there first for a full engine rebuild, tune, turbo upgrade, etc which was about 1 1/2 months. Thats was supposed to be 1 month but the engine blew up on the dyno. The boss then lied to the customer and said we were waiting on parts while the motor was yanked and rebuilt.
The car then came back 2 weeks later after its run-in to get tuned for power and to get the intercooler piping rerouted and it blew up again. The boss had to call up a lie again while we rebuilt the motor. It was in the workshop about 2 weeks this time.
The owner came back about a month later for more power and the more leaned out this time on the dyno and died again. That was about another week because we had to wait a couple days for the fuel pumps.
All I can say is the boss could spin some real b.s!
There was another guy who forked out $25,000 on the promise that the car would be ready in 2 weeks with a 500rwhp combo. 1 1/2 months later he got the car, luckily the guy didn't get violent because he had just spent time in the joint for that.
I now work on forklifts and we have customer units that have been sitting for 5 months!
