ok. well as most of you know my housemate crashed my car last week:





this is going to cost $800 to fix at a car place (bonned quarter and respray (front))

i think for $800 i can find a fairmont ghia with a ****ed engine/box. that i can use my engine and 5 speed in. so this is where i am headed atm.
i am mainly posting this. for anyone if they know someone that is selling a fairmont/ fairmont ghia or even spac with really good body and interior. can be engineless ect.. as long as body is good and interior is good

Yeah i have to say the sceptic in me thought exactly what walki had posted... but that's a different story. Either way, looks like a c**t to fix.

I reckon you're on the right track looking for a donor body. Fairmont ghia 5 speed would be a nice touch.

hey boz that sounds like a good idea. i don't know of anyone selling one but shouldn't be that hard to find a cheap one with stuffed engine. maybe try auctions?

if you do go down this route i can give you a hand swapping everything from your car over to the new shell. i'm not great at mechanical stuff but yeah i might be able to help a bit :-p

if that was my car i'd bang that gaurd and bonnet back as best i could fix whatever damage is left with fibreglass grind it close to shape and bog with body filler and go down and get a pressure pack of red paint and she'll be right $150 max i reckon.
i wouldnt want to do a reshell for that piddley bit of damage thats my opinion anyway

the only thing is reshelling a car is a fairly big job.. well unless you are going to use most of the parts from the new car then maybe not that big. but still i'm thinking your car could be off the road for a little while to do this. but it would still be off the road a while for a respray. so yeah maybe about the same. fair bit of work though.
