this is a closeup of the weld.. which is not finished yet.. just temporary so it could be lined up on the car before i took it off

this is the xw inside the guard with the new guard piece welded temorarily... the piece on top of the guard subsequently had to be replaced because of rust..

i was bored/nervous on the morning of starting my new job so i put the sill mould, the wheelarchmould and sidestrip back on the car.. it looks better that way too

and thats where i am at the moment.. hopefully more progress sat/sunday

Great to see progress work happening to your XW. Can't wait to see her when she's all finished and prettied up. You'll have to go on some our cruises again.

Now did you get the RO spec. You know the Roundabout Option, that has enhanced suspension for roundabout steering. :-P

Mate.. 600 points for doing it properely! Now your car will go another 33 years. Unlike the Chicken Wire and Fibreglass Crew� who get demoted to automotive hell

It may look rough atm but atleast you will have the peice of mind knowing that it was done properely

I had too replace the exact same sectionson my guards and by the looks of it used the same replacement panels from rare spares??

Good to see another XW Fairmont in the works.

I should get mine back from the painters by the end of the week.

Seems we have the same sense of taking the old XW apart and rebuilding, better, stronger, faster, we can rebuild it. I'll have enough nuts and bolts at the end to build another XW however. I'm sure manufacturers put extra nuts and bolts in for the likes of me.!!
