confused 01 4x4 Edge Clutch Issues

Hey all. I'm new here, but I'm looking for some insight.

I currently have a 2001 4x4 Edge model Ranger with a very temperamental clutch. When I first drive it, the clutch is great - full pedal and all. But as I drive along, especially if I'm stuck in stop n' go traffic, the pedal begins to fail - to the point where the clutch will only engage if it is almost through the floor! I can pump it a couple times and get a little pedal, but it doesn't last.

So, I have used a power bleeder on the master & slave, and I did get some air out of it, but not much, and the problem is still there.....

Any ideas?

Thanks.....

Sounds like it's in need of adjustment to account for any wear and tear.

The slave is prone to going out on these trucks and the clutch is self adjusting. I'm on slave #3.

How often would you say the slave lasts?

Re: 01 4x4 Edge Clutch Issues

That's good to know. I'm surprised Ford hasn't released a fix other than to replace the slave.
