Have a 2002 Ranger 4WD - 131,000mi.

Went to put on the 4WD this morning: the inst panel indicator light did not come on and the 4WD did not engage.

Is there some things I can look for or is this a dealer deal?

I would guess that the electric shift motor on the transfer case or maybe the 4X4 module.

When you click it into 4WD, you should be able to hear the module make a clicking noise from the passenger side kick panel.

If the check engine light is on, then there may be a code in the system to tell you what is wrong.

I'm not hearing the cliclking. The panel 4WD light doesn't come on either. I checked the fuses and they are good. No check engine light but i intermittently get a code 4-7 on the air bag light.
