Hi I own a 2002 ford ranger.
just recently swithched the transmission on it actually, couple weeks ago.
my first problem occured when the check engine light came on and gave a p0175 code. fuel too rich. i switched the fuel filter and it seemed to do the trick. week later engine light came on again. which was yesterday. code this time is p0743. which is the toruqe converter code. I dont know much at all about anything. like what it means. and how to fix it. all I know is that sometimes it shifts a little hard. (its automatic by the way) the engine light is now instantly coming back on after I erase it. and throughout all this its had the problem of the o/d off light going on and flashing after driving the car for ten mins of so. which therefor seems to make it shift even worse. any ideas?

I read a different thread saying something that it could just be replacing the solenoid block. but not totally sure. just need help.

Hi, I don't have the answer to your problem, but I have a similar issue so I hope you don't mind if I add it in :)

2002 3.0l 2wd no check engine light/ no stored codes, but my "o/d off" light flashes occasionally. I haven't been able to narrow it down to anything specific, besides that it has only happened on starting after the truck has been sitting more than a couple hours. I took it on the highway while it was flashing and didn't notice a difference in engine rpms so I'm assuming overdrive was still functioning. I finally got around to changing the fluid so I'm waiting for it to happen again on me and figure out what my next step will be.

2 months later and my problem hasn't reoccured, hurrah! try changing the fluid in the transmission, maybe something is sticking.
