1/2 of block overheating - Ford Forums

77 Ranger with a 400. 1/2 the block is overheating. Checked intake gaskets and head gaskets. Anybody have any ideas? Getting very frustrating. After 40 years of wrenching I have no idea what this could be.

If only half the block is getting very hot then I would suspect the water passages in the head could be plugged. It may be worth removing that side to see.

Thanks. That was going to be the next step. Also heard possibly the water pump gasket may be bad so checking that also.
