1989 Ranger question

I just picked up a 1989 ford ranger has 2.9 motor with what says to be 4 speed with overdrive (5th gear marked on shifter as overdrive) It does not have reverse or overdrive so I am figuring the fork is damaged I think that is what it is called. will it hurt to drive in town where I wouldn't need 5th/overdrive I do know at 55mph in fourth I get 3000 rpm's found that out driving it home

Re: 1989 Ranger question

Well, you're missing reverse and overdrive, there's no guarantee you won't contribute to the damage unless you figure out what's causing your issue. Also, what if you need to back up?

Ever notice that there's so many high performance parts available for GM products?

Did you ever think that maybe they NEED them?
