1997 ranger speedometer cable removal

im having trouble removing the speedometer cable on my ranger transmission so i can replace the clutch. the hanes manual shows a diff connection then the one i have on my truck. i have tried pulling pushing prying almost ready to get the cutters and use the tack from now on.

i havent figured out how to post pix yet. it inserts into the trans on driver side about mid way no bolts it will turn in the trans but will not thread out

it may not be the speedometer cable but i cant find any other wires cables or anything else attached to the trans the cable i posted pix of is the only thing keeping me from removing trans. if and when i get it off i will post how its done.

have to have a special tool its the clutch hydraulic quick disconnect.

Yeah I'm an idiot. I just hope I haven't messed it up and have to go dumpster diven in the junk yard. Thanks for trying.

Most clutch kits I've gotten have the tool in the kit.

you don't really need the tool. i messed mine up to much to use it. i just took 2 flat head screwdrivers and pressed the white collar into the female part of the connection and pulled the male part out. you have to push the white plastic piece in until it is a little past the outer edge of the female part of the connection.
