I'm in the process of looking at buying a 1999 Ranger 4WD w/ a 3.0 v6. The owner says there is a coolant leak at the 'elbow' where the lower radiator hose attaches to the block and that this 'elbow' is apparently screwed into the block casting. I'm an old auto parts guru (20+ years) and I'm having a devil of a time finding any kind of images online. I haven't been able to arrange to see the vehicle yet to look at it personally. It can be driven but not far due to this leak. Any ideas anyone?
If it's screwed into the block perhaps it was a previous fix by someone else and the part wasn't replaced correctly? Sounds a bit off, your right...you'll have to look at it.
If you'll crawl under the truck you'll see the lower radiator hose tee's off with a smaller hose which I would guess goes to the coolant tank, not 100% sure though. The elbow in question might be the tee in the hose.
But the guy already sold it!:BW:Oh well, I guess there will be something else on Craigslist that will work.....
