I have a 2000 Ranger Ext Cab 2WD 3.0l V6 which has 31,000 miles on it. Technically it is out of warranty (3 yr / 36,000 miles) but I have a question. The engine has developed an oil leak which looks like a rear main seal. Does anyone have any expeience with Ford which would indicate they might make this repair under warranty.

I plan to go by the dealer next week but I thought I would check and see if anyone on this board has had warranty work performed after the warranty has expired.

BTW I only had the factory warranty, no extended warranty. THX

I'll find out today. I made the appointment before I had 36k on it but I passed that over the weekend. S'all right, my main beef is rust and that's on a longer warranty anyway. Both my old '99 and my new '02 got rust on the bottom tailgate seam and the bottom inside seam of the doors.
