2000 Ranger

Hey I have a 2000 Ranger V6 3.0 and the check engine light is on with rough idling. I have changed my wires and plugs already and used sea foam to try and clean out the injectors. The problem still persists and its getting worse in that I am losing power and the idling is getting rougher. Anyone have any ideas?

cool Re: 2000 Ranger

My guess would be an O2 sensor. Go to a dealer, garage, or (some) parts stores, they can plug in and pull the codes and tell for sure. It can screw up the mixture and cause the rough idle. 9 times out of 10 if the Check Engine light comes on, it's an O2 sensor. Probably not the cause, but it's worth noting that the Ranger manual calls for a new fuel filter at 30,000 miles so if you have that many then get the filter done. (Auto tranny fluid at 30k too.)

Re: 2000 Ranger

Auto zone does code checks for free, and can get you a o2 sessor if thats what it is. Is there platniums in your truck, because I just got some, and mine is running horrible.(same as yours)
