Hey folks, I have a problem that's been driving me nuts. I have a 2000 5 speed 2wd Ranger and am getting a bad clunk when stopping. This only happens when warm, clutch is pushed and almost at a stop. It is as if there is a big chunk o firewood rolling around the bed. I'm thinking maybe the rear end although I have been under the truck and the driveline is tight, universals look and feel ok, differential oil is full (altho I'm sure its original). Any ideas? It only has 87K on it and I have had it for better than 5 years.....

Sometimes the slip joint going into the transmission can cause that. If you take the shaft out and put some grease on the splines, that may stop it.
