2000 Ranger Electrical problems

Hey everyone hows it going i have a 2000 ranger xlt sport with the 4.0 automatic lately i have been staring to have some electrical problems. started with popping the fuse 4 the power mirrors eh whatever dont really adjust them. next passenger window doesnt always roll down with driver switch but if i reach across and use passenger switch it goes down. Now my cruise control isnt working took 2 ford 4 cruise control as expected they could not find the problem within the first hour of diagnostic time and wanted another $250 to continue diagnostics so i just picked it up. Does anyone have any ideas besides buy a new truck???

Possible wiring in the door jams. Autozone has free online repair manuals and wiring diagrams.

Re: 2000 Ranger Electrical problems

i do have the manual. the mirrors and the windows dont bother me as much as the cruise not working as i commute a lot. a few years ago i got the recall notice from ford for the cruise took it in and they installed the little pig tail with 2 fuses in line. been working fine until recently it started poping the fuses. checked a bunch of forums and everyone was saying to change the sensor on the brake resivour so i changed the sensor still pops the fuses. the little harness came with 2 amp fuses in it i changed them out and all the way up 10amp they pop. with 10amp fuses in the ABS light comes on. tats what i took it to ford to find out what was up but they couldnt figure it out in the first free hour diagnostics. go figure lol

Re: 2000 Ranger Electrical problems

Try disconnecting the wheel speed sensors with a 2A fuse again, see if it still pops. If no, start re-assembling them on at a time until one pops the fuse.
