2000 Ranger Intermittant Stall

Having a strange problem w/2000 Ranger V-6. From time to time, it will stall out for no apparent reason. It will not immediately restart, but will restart after setting for a while. Securilock (anti theft system) is not tripped; No Check Engine light or OBD2 codes set. Any ideas? I'm baffled!

Re: 2000 Ranger Intermittant Stall

gb, Any responses to your post? I feel your pain. My '95 v6 has done same thing. Had it towed to my mech twice. Both times it sat a few hours, then he gets in and it started right up!! He has no clue. Happening more frequently now approx every two months. Happened last Friday night as I pulled in to park at Home Depot. Oddly this time, the taxi driver who drove me home noticed the lights on the cab top - rear were on, although all switches were definitely OFF. I left it where it died overnight and had towed to my home next day. Battery was half discharged (probably from the lights stuck on), so I trickle charged it then the truck started up! I know my battery is good. Fuel is good. The thing runs great but just simply dies periodically and will not start for a period of time, like yours. Obviously this is a mysterious pain in the -ss. Any insight / known fixes appreciated from the Ranger world!!

confused Re: 2000 Ranger Intermittent Stall

Having the same problem on a 2003 Ranger, stalls for no apparent reason. Seems to happen about once a month. So far at lower speeds like 20ish. No engine light, no codes. But always starts right back up. Searching the Internet I see several people with the same issue but no one seems to ever answer what it could be. I'm sure with this many people having the same or similar problem someone should know. Can't imagine no one getting it fixed ever. Driving to school long distance daily, don't want to get stranded. Any help would be great!
